Lady Gaga tweeted support for Kanye West on Wednesday following the rapper’s hospitalization for mental health issues. The singer, who’s been open about her own struggles in the past, expressed “compassion” for the fellow artist and implored her fans not to poke fun at West’s situation.
As Gossip Cop reported, West was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital for a psychiatric evaluation on Monday, just hours after announcing that the remainder of his Saint Pablo Tour has been canceled. Several celebrities have posted well-wishes to the rapper on Twitter, and Lady Gaga is now the latest star to reach out. On Wednesday, she wrote, “While I don’t agree with everything he does I hope the public shows compassion and for @kanyewest and each other. One love. One Race.”
In response to those mocking West’s condition, the singer added, “It’s not funny to joke about anyone’s possible or not possible mental illness, this is a sensitive time for many. Let’s be kind & loving.” Lady Gaga then concluded, “@kanyewest i support & love u brother, I see in you bravery & courage to stop this tour & take care of YOU. You are a GREAT artist.” Back in September, Lady Gaga admitted in an interview that she took a break from the limelight in 2013 to deal with her own mental health issues, including a battle with depression.
