Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy performed on “The View” on Wednesday, just hours after their “Dancing with the Stars” victory. Watch below!
As Gossip Cop reported, Hernandez and Chmerkovskiy won season 23 of “DWTS” on Tuesday night. Following the big finale, they flew to New York for a “Dancing with the Stars” after-party on “GMA.” Their whirlwind 24 hours then continued with a live appearance on “The View.”
Hernandez and Chmerkovskiy showed exactly why they won the coveted Mirror Ball with a paso doble set to the song “Wicked Ones.” Afterward, co-host Sara Haines pointed out that, after winning gold at the Rio Olympics, the 16-year-old is now the youngest “DWTS” winner in history. Asked which was “harder,” she maturely answered, “I think they were both in their own different range and they were both pretty hard.”
It was then noted that Chmerkovskiy was uncharacteristically emotional this season, prompting him to admit that he just “shed some tears backstage” after hearing about other young dancers. “I feel very strongly about the opportunity to inspire a young mind such as Laurie’s, especially a role model, a young lady like herself,” he confessed. “For me, that brings tears to my eyes.”
And the two won’t be spending much time apart in the coming months, as they’ll be going on the “Dancing with the Stars” tour together. Also on “The View” were the other “DWTS” finalists, who gave short performances, too. Check out the video below!
