We McDonald covered Rihanna for her Top 11 performance on Monday’s “The Voice.” Check out the video below!
As Gossip Cop has reported, McDonald’s deep singing voice at only 17 years old has continually impressed the coaches throughout the season. Last week, she took the audience to church with her version of Hozier’s “Take Me To Church.” And now she gave just as strong a performance while also showcasing a different side of herself with Rihanna’s “Love On The Brain.”
Before taking the stage, McDonald was seen with coach Alicia Keys in rehearsal, where the aspiring star said she wanted to “match” Rihanna in her performance. Keys predicted her artist’s “contemporary spin” on the “vintage-sounding” track would make it sound brand new. And that version seemed to go over quite well when McDonald eventually closed out the two-hour live show.
There was only time afterward for Keys to speak, and the superstar said, “We, you always come with it. You’re so young, but you sing like you’ve had a trillion, thousand years of experience… You deserve everything. You deserve to be here and you deserve to soar.” She even said that the audience “can’t deny” McDonald’s power. Watch the performance below!
