Fox is going to Catalina.
The network is teaming with New Girl duo Jake Johnson and Max Winkler as well as comedy veteran Mary Fitzgerald (Cougartown) for a father-daughter comedy set in Catalina, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The single-camera comedy, which landed at Fox with a script commitment, revolves around a disgraced politician who returns to his hometown on the blue sky beaches of Catalina island, and unexpectedly discovers that his carefree, bartending daughter may be the only one who can help him get his career, and his life, back on track.
Winkler, Johnson and Fitzgerald will pen the script and executive produce alongside Jason Carden.
Winkler, who recently helmed feature Flower, will direct should the script score a pilot order. The comedy hails from 20th Century Fox Television, where Winkler's Walcott Co. is under an overall deal. This marks the latest sale for Walcott, which also has Damon Wayans Jr. vehicle The Henchman set up at Fox. Walcott is also behind the Bachelor Party feature, which starred Johnson.
Winkler is represented by CAA, Management 360, and attorney Karl Austen of Jackoway Tyerman.
Johnson is represented by UTA and 3 Arts. Fitzgerald is an EP on ABC's Dr. Ken and also counts Mom, Bad Judge and Lucky Louie among her credits. She is repped by ICM Partners.
