Demi Lovato performed a special set at the 2016 Global Citizen Festival on Saturday. Watch below!
As Gossip Cop noted earlier, the Global Citizen Festival is an annual concert held in Central Park to reward activists who have worked on global causes. The event also raises awareness of such issues with inspiring keynote speakers. But for most attendees, the best parts are all the performances from top acts they might not otherwise get to see.
Lovato’s participation was only announced earlier this month. The singer stepped in to replace Selena Gomez, who dropped out of the concert, along with other obligations, to focus on her personal health. Interestingly, she still had a presence at the show, as a boys’ choir from Kenya performed her song “Kill ‘Em With Kindness.”
Lovato took the stage shortly before that, kicking of her performance with “Confident.” “For You” and “Stone Cold” followed. The singer then announced, “Thank you Global Citizens, especially all of you who are working toward the global goal of gender equality, and standing up for women and girls everywhere.”
“This next song is inspired and it’s lifting up women everywhere for years, even since before I was born, and it still does,” she continued. “This is called ‘You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman,’ and it goes out to women and girls all over the world.”
And after that powerful cover, Lovato wrapped up with “Cool For The Summer.” Check out the full video below!
