Late night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon were among those who joked about Angelina Jolie divorcing Brad Pitt on Tuesday night’s episodes of their talk shows. Watch the video below of the Brangelina split remarks made in their monologues!
As Gossip Cop reported, on Monday Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt after more than a decade and six children together, and two years of marriage. In her divorce petition, Jolie asked for sole physical custody and cited irreconcilable differences. Naturally, the big news was fodder for the late night talk show hosts.
Kimmel began his monologue about the split by saying, “You know there are a lot of important and life-threatening and world-changing things going on lately. Sometimes it seems like more than ever, but none of them are as foundation shaking as the news we received today about Brad and Angelina.” “As I’m sure you’ve heard by now,” he continued, “Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt.”
He then mocked, “Of course, all the celebrity gossip magazines are claiming victory.” “They broke this story. They broke it every week for the last 11 years… over and over and over again until it finally came true,” added Kimmel, echoing how Gossip Cop has for years busted the previously false reports about Jolie and Pitt getting a divorce. In addition to the comedian hammering the tabloids more for their inaccurate stories, he cracked, “Apparently, the reason they’re getting divorced is she talked about ‘Fight Club,’ and he specifically asked her not to do that.”
Meanwhile, after mentioning the split, Fallon said, “It’s pretty scary when even Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are like, ‘Eh, we can do better.’” Conan O’Brien also brought up the divorce, noting Pitt and Jolie will “share custody 50-50. He’ll take 50 kids, and she’ll take the other 50.” And Stephen Colbert began his monologue by saying, “I hope everyone is with a loved one tonight because I have some terrible news… Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are getting divorced.” He added, “That’s right, no more Brangelina. There’s just going to be ‘Gelina’ and ‘Bran’ now.”
James Corden said, “I’m taking this news especially hard because I named my daughter Brangelina.” “Feels like a mistake now,” he continued. The “Late Late Show” host went on to joke that Jolie “filed for custody of their six children, and when Brad heard that he was like, ‘We have 6 children? …It seems like way more.” Corden also cracked that “in the face of a Donald Trump presidency, Brad and Angelina’s marriage was the last hope for immigrants to be welcomed into this country.”
