Jolie reportedly filed for divorce because of "the way Brad was parenting the children" and "was extremely upset with his methods," according to the site.
The Tomb Raider actress is being represented by famed Hollywood divorce attorney Laura Wasser, TMZ said.
Last month, Us Weekly exclusively reported that the pair celebrated their second wedding anniversary with a low-key date night at a five-star resort. "It was just the two of them. They had dinner and spent the night, and that was it," a source told Us at the time, adding, "They want to keep the love alive."
The former couple secretly married in August 2014 at their Château Miraval estate in Correns, France. During the private ceremony, Jolie wore a dress designed with their children's drawings on it. Maddox and Pax walked the actress down the aisle, Zahara and Vivienne threw petals from the family's garden and Shiloh and Knox were the ring bearers, a spokesperson told Us at the time.
Jolie and Pitt started dating in 2004 — while he was still married to Jennifer Aniston — after starring in Mr. & Mrs. Smith together. This was Jolie's third marriage. She previously tied the knot with Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.
