Nick Gordon was found legally responsible for the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown by a Fulton County judge after he failed to appear in court on Friday.
As Gossip Cop reported, the conservator of Brown’s estate filed a $50 million wrongful death lawsuit against Gordon last year, accusing him of physical and emotional abuse, and beating Brown in the hours before she was found unconscious in the bathtub of the home they shared in Atlanta. He was also accused of providing his ex-girlfriend with a toxic amount of drugs, as well as transferring money from her bank account into his own without permission.
Gordon was scheduled to appear in court Friday as a defendant in the civil suit, but he decided to skip the proceedings. As a result, Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford ruled him responsible for Brown’s wrongful death, but no criminal charges have been filed against him. Brown’s estate is seeking $50 million in damages, but a jury will later determine the amount that will be awarded.
R. David Ware, the lawyer for Brown’s conservator, told reporters outside the courtroom, “In court today, we finally finished a long journey for justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown. The court agrees with us, by striking Mr. Gordon’s answer that he is legally responsible for her death. The only thing left to prove is the value of her life. We intend to do that.”
