Miley Cyrus discussed “The Voice” and dodged questions about Liam Hemsworth on Friday’s “Today” show. Watch below!
As Gossip Cop has reported, Cyrus is a new coach on the upcoming season of “The Voice,” which premieres on Monday. The pop star has already taped much of the show, and she seems extremely happy about her experience so far. “I think the greatest thing about ‘The Voice’ is we get to show all different sides of us, and our music knowledge beyond our genre,” she told Carson Daly, the host of the NBC competition, and Savannah Guthrie.
“I’ve been really lucky because I think my team, Carson as you know, I think I have the most diverse team of all teams,” Cyrus shared. “I have country and pop. It has a little bit of everything and very genre-fluid and very open and cool.” She even went on admit, “I’m the one that cries all the time because I get really attached. Even on days that we’re not filming, I go there and I check in with my team.”
Cyrus was a special adviser last season, and she now explained that it didn’t take much convincing for her to join the show in a larger role. “I don’t think people at home realize how real this is. I wouldn’t be doing this if this wasn’t — what it looks like is what it is. There are no producers and directors coming up and telling you want to say or who to pick or who’s coming up next,” she said.
The singer went on, “I think even I came in with preconceived ideas of what I thought the show was and they were completely broken down… I also think it’s a part of my philanthropic life. It’s being there for people and encouraging them to be who they are.”
Cyrus also discussed her upcoming Woody Allen series, “Crisis In Six Scenes,” but was much less talkative when Guthrie brought up Hemsworth and pointed out that fans “see a ring on your finger.” “They see three rings,” Cyrus replied, showing off all her baubles. Guthrie then asked, “Do you have anything to tell?” The sly star then commented on two of the rings, but not her engagement ring.
The conversation then turned to the recent decision Cyrus made to quit walking red carpets. “I don’t want people to really talk about what I’m wearing. That’s usually why I don’t wear too much,” she quipped. “But they make me wear clothes on ‘The Voice’ and on the ‘Today’ show, so this is what I chose.” Check out the full interview below!
