Vice President Joe Biden made a special appearance at the 2016 Stand Up To Cancer benefit at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles on Friday night. Watch the video below.
Biden was on hand at the fundraiser to discuss his work as leader of the Federal White House Cancer Moonshot Task Force. The vice president’s son, Joseph “Beau” Biden, died in May 2015 following a battle with brain cancer. Biden was joined by dozens of big celebrities at the live hour-long telecast, which aims to raise money for cancer research.
Just a few of the A-list stars who participated in the event were Tom Hanks, Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper, Anna Kendrick, Chris Evans, Emma Stone, Kristen Wiig, Matthew McConaughey, Kevin Hart, Jon Hamm, Josh Gad, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, and many more. There were also musical performances by Celine Dion, Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Little Big Town, Charlie Puth, and more artists.
Additionally, viewers at home were invited to participate by calling the celebrity phone bank and donating money while talking to one of the many stars in attendance. People were also able to donate and interact with the stars through social media. Since its inception in 2008, the Stand Up To Cancer organization has raised more than $370 million for cancer research. Watch full video of Vice President Biden’s speech below.
