Kristoffer Polaha and Michelle Mitchenor are set for roles on the upcoming TV remake of the Mel Gibson-Danny Glover film.

Fox's Lethal Weapon remake is bulking up its onscreen team.

The forthcoming drama series has cast Chi-Raq actress Michelle Mitchenor and Kristoffer Polaha (Ringer), The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Based on the 1987 film, Lethal Weapon centers on Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs (Rectify's Clayne Crawford), who suffers the loss of his wife and baby and moves to Los Angeles to start anew. He is then partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans Sr.), who, having recently suffered a "minor" heart attack, must avoid stress in his life.

Mitchenor will recur as Det. Sonya Bailey, Murtaugh's tough and dogged protege. A no-nonsense, confident and determined officer, Bailey is at the point in her career where she wants to prove she belongs in the robbery/homicide division. Mitchenor will make her debut in the second episode of the series. The actress is repped by MMV, Luber Roklin Entertainment and Bloom Hergott.

Polaha also will appear in episode two as Bennet Hirsch, a tough and straightforward special agent with the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms). Agent Hirsch lends his expertise to Riggs and Murtaugh when a particularly deadly military-grade weapon is used during a crime in the Hollywood Hills.

The guest role brings Polaha back to Fox, where he previously starred on network dramas Backstrom and North Shore. The actor, whose other credits include Mad Men, Castle and Life Unexpected, is repped by Gersh.

Matt Miller (Chuck) executive produces the Warner Bros. TV series with Dan Lin, Jennifer Gwartz and McG, who directed the pilot.

Lethal Weapon is one of Fox's big swings for fall. The network also is getting ready to launch first-year dramas Pitch and The Exorcist, based on the book of the same name.

Lethal Weapon is set to premiere Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
