With Rio Olympics breakouts such as Michael Phelps and Simone Biles done with competition at the Summer Games, ratings dipped on a quiet Wednesday for NBC.
The network's primetime coverage drew a 14.4 overnight rating among households. Fast Affiliate scores put NBC's evening coverage at 20.5 million viewers and a 5.8 rating among adults 18-49.
Wednesday's coverage included the women's 100 hurdles, which saw three U.S. athletes Brianna Rollins, Nia Ali and Kristi Castlin take gold, silver and bronze, respectively, as well as the women's beach volleyball third-place match for Kerri Walsh-Jennings and partner April Ross.
Twelve days into the Summer Games, NBC-only coverage now stands at an average of 26.6 million viewers and a 15.1 household rating. That averages pales in comparison to the 2012 London Olympics, which were averaging upwards of 32 million at this point in the games.
