Justin Bieber officially deleted his Instagram account, two days after threatening to make it private. Now “#JustinDeactivatedParty” is the top trending topic both worldwide and in the United States.
As Gossip Cop reported, early Sunday, Bieber threatened to make his Instagram private in response to hate directed towards Sofia Richie, with whom he’s been spending time lately. The singer wrote, “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate this is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like.” But he ended up getting slammed, in part because he referred to supporters as “fans” instead of “Beliebers.”
That led “#RIPBeliebers” to trend. Next, ex Selena Gomez and Bieber had an Instagram fight over the situation, leading fans to tweet “#SelenaEndedJustinParty.” But, as Gossip Cop reported, some of the screengrabs of their reported comments to each other were fake.
By Monday evening, the new trend was “#sorryjustinweloveyou,” but most people seemed to be using it to say how NOT sorry they actually were about upsetting their idol. And now Bieber has taken his biggest stand yet. Sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning, the superstar shut down his Instagram account, which had more than 80 million followers.
Upon going to his page, a message now reads, “Sorry, this page isn’t available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed. Go back to Instagram.” As of now, Bieber’s Facebook and Twitter pages remain available.
The decision has prompted a variety of responses from Twitter users, with some amused and others hurt. @JonnyMcNarwhal tweeted, “Now let’s just hope that he deactivates his Twitter now #JustinDeactivatedParty.” @onlybieberveli observed, “no pics, hugs or social media. so we only interact when we’re giving you our coins? noted.”
“Justin is really forgetting who pays his bills, watch me download his next album illegally,” remarked @onlybieberveli. @ysImodeIs similarly said, “Imagine having an idol that prefers his 1 week girlfriend than his fans, the ones who pay his bills.” But @lorrainegoh715 suggested the issue was just blown out of proportion by a subset of Beliebers who didn’t represent everyone’s feelings.
She tweeted, “I just feel sorry for all the fans who are true to him but everything gets messed up because of the others.” @SamuelGiove also wrote, “Justin is having some trouble times (not professionally but personally) and yall wanna leave him now? Sorry I wont..” And @jusxtinrauhls declared, “The fact Justin has done this, and no matter how mad he makes me, he’s still my whole world and I love him so much.”
