Alex Rodriguez is playing in his last MLB game, at least for the Yankees, on Friday. Check out the live stream below!
As Gossip Cop reported, the Yankees and Rodriguez announced last Sunday that he would be released from his contract, despite having a year left on the monumental deal. The unconditional release does not bar the baseball player from signing with another team, but he has not indicated whether he will opt for retirement instead. That said, he has signed a one-year contract to join the Yankees as an advisor, a job that is expected to begin with spring training next year.
Rodriguez has a MLB career that has been as historic as it’s been controversial. He’s surpassed many milestones, such as achieving 3,000 hits and 600 homeruns. But his use of banned substances, namely performance-enhancing drugs, have called into question his achievements.
And, of course, that led to a season-long suspension. When he returned to the game, many wondered if he would still be able to excel at the game. Well, he did… for a time. But Rodriguez has spent much of the last few months on the bench, leading the Yankees to take action.
A pre-game ceremony, in which Rodriguez was honored by the Yankees with his family by his side, was cut short by a rain storm. Now the first pitch, against the Tampa Bay Rays, is slated for 8 p.m. Eastern. Watch below!
