Michael Phelps’ family appeared on the “Today” show on Friday to discuss his historic career and his time at the Rio Olympics. Check out the video below!

As Gossip Cop reported, Phelps won gold in the men’s individual 200-meter medley on Thursday, his 22nd career gold. Sitting in the stands were mom Debbie and fiancé Nicole Johnson. Phelps and Johnson welcomed son Boomer in May, and he’s been at every event, too.

So, it was only fitting that the adorable infant was also part of the “Today” interview. And while there was much cooing over baby Boomer, there’s was plenty discussion about his famous daddy, too. “It’s rather amazing to think of Michael’s journey since 2000 at age 15 and now 31,” said his mother.

Debbie went on, “Michael is very driven, driven to correct things that have gone wrong, to set goals for himself as to where he wants to be. I’ve never seen him so happy as he is now.” Matt Lauer credited some of that happiness to Johnson, who said of being at the Olympics, “It’s been incredible, because I’ve watched it first-hand — the training, the dedication, the downside and coming back from all of that.”

Lauer later noted that Ryan Lochte said he’d see Phelps in Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics. “That would be wonderful,” Debbie said. “I already have the race picked out.” Watch below!
