Hugh Grant revealed on Thursday’s “Watch What Happens Live” why he turned down an offer to return for Bridget Jones’s Baby. Watch the video below!

Grant co-starred alongside Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth in the first two films in the Bridget Jones movie series, but his character is missing from the upcoming third installment of the romantic comedy franchise. “They did come to me a couple of years ago,” Grant told Andy Cohen on the Bravo talk show. “They had a lovely idea for a film, but I’m particularly difficult and queeny when it comes to scripts, and I couldn’t quite make the script work for me. So they then made it without me and I’m sure it’s brilliant.” The sequel will now see Patrick Dempsey involved in a love triangle with Zellweger and Firth’s characters. When asked if he regrets turning down the opportunity, Grant joked, “It depends how much money it makes, obviously.”

Bridget Jones’s Baby hits theaters September 16. Also during Grant’s candid interview on the Bravo show, he gave his opinions on Donald Trump, Brexit, “The Real Housewives of New York,” and Meryl Streep. See the star reveal his reason for turning down the film in a highlight from the actor’s “Watch What Happens Live” interview below.
