Stephen Colbert’s ‘The Late Show’ Will Air Live During the Presidential Debates

The three live episodes will broadcast on Sept. 26, Oct. 4 and Oct. 19.

Stephen Colbert is going live again.

Like he did during the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, Colbert will broadcast three live episodes of The Late Show following the upcoming presidential and vice presidential debates. CBS entertainment chief Glenn Geller announced the news Wednesday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

The shows are set to air on Monday, Sept. 26 after the first presidential debate, followed by a Tuesday, Oct. 4 episode following the vice presidential debate and a Wednesday, Oct. 19 show after the third presidential debate.

Colbert will host each night live from the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York, where the late night talker usually tapes. The guest lineup has yet to be announced.

The Late Show's live broadcasts during the recent political conventions generated the show's two biggest viral clips to date thanks to Jon Stewart’s guest appearance and Laura Benanti’s impersonation of Melania Trump.
