An “exclusive” story about Eminem and Drake having a rap battle was made up by HollywoodLife. Gossip Cop has learned the report was seemingly fabricated.

On Wednesday, claims emerged that Eminem and Drake may target each other on upcoming songs. But those allegations were never confirmed, and the Hot 97 deejay who started the rumor, Ebro, actually admitted later that night that he was only joking about the two stars engaging in a feud. And yet HollywoodLife used the recanted information as the basis of a manufactured story on Thursday.

The site proclaims, “Eminem Convinced He’d Destroy Drake In A Rap Battle — ‘It Would Be A Knockout.’” The accompanying “exclusive” article states, “As far as Eminem is concerned, he’s already won his rumored rap feud with Drake. Though he has respect for Drizzy, HollywoodLife.com has the EXCLUSIVE scoop that Slim Shady thinks he would simply obliterate Champagne Papi in a real battle.”

“Marshall thinks Drake is a great studio rapper. He has a great sound and has plenty of hooks that are amazing. But when it comes to street rapping — battle rapping — Drizzy would get destroyed,” a so-called “source” is quoted as saying. The supposed “source” adds, “Marshall knows it would be a quick knockout.”

But given the webloid’s long history of relying on untrustworthy “sources” and sometimes even making up “insiders” for its “exclusives,” Gossip Cop was skeptical that the outlet actually had a contact close to Eminem who would give them this information. Sure enough, a rep for Eminem tells us, “It’s bullsh*t.”

So, HollywoodLies does have an “exclusive,” all right. They exclusively made this story up.
