Fox's upcoming baseball drama Pitch is adding to its cast lineup.

The fall drama has enlisted JoAnna Garcia Swisher for a recurring role, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Pitch — produced in partnership with Major League Baseball — centers on Ginny Baker, a young female pitcher (Kylie Bunbury, Under the Dome) who defies the odds when she becomes the first woman to play in the major leagues.

Garcia Swisher will play Rachel Patric, a Katie Couric/Megyn Kelly-type newscaster. Intelligent, quick-witted, extremely competent, great at her job, she is tenacious and knows how to get the story. She is also catcher Mike Lawson's (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) ex-wife. The character instigated the divorce and is already engaged to someone else, much to Mike's chagrin. She will first appear in our second episode of the season, production of which began Monday at Dodger Stadium where the production was filming scenes featuring the show's Padres taking on the Dodgers.

Garcia Swisher's casting comes as her career is beginning to intersect with her personal life as the actress is married to former Yankee slugger Nick Swisher. Her recent credits include Once Upon a Time, Fox's Grandfathered and The Astronaut Wives. She's repped by WME and John Carrabino Management.

Also confirmed to return to the baseball series from Dan Fogelman, Kevin Falls and Rick Singer are Bob Balaban, who appeared in the pilot and will recur as Frank Reid, the owner of the Padres; Chasity Dotson as Janet Baker, Ginny's mother; Ryan Dorsey as Tommy Miller, the pitcher Ginny replaced on the team's roster and her antagonist; Jack McGee as Buck, the team's pitching coach; and Michael Beach as Bill Baker, Ginny's father.

Pitch premieres Thursday, Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. on Fox. Watch the trailer, below.
