Jared Leto reveals his opinion of Kanye West and Taylor Swift in a new interview. Find out below how the actor feels about both music superstars!
Leto graces the cover of the second-ever issue of GQ Style in which he speaks about his role as The Joker in Suicide Squad, as well as his relationship with Hollywood celebrities. When asked if he’s bothered by tabloid rumors about himself, the actor admits, “I’ve had rumors bother me. Especially if they’re hurtful or spiteful and not true,” but he adds, “There’s going to be people who love you, people who hate you. It doesn’t matter if you’re Barack Obama or the Pope. If you’re Kanye or Taylor Swift.”
The actor’s allusion to the feud between the rapper and pop star led to a discussion on how he feels about both. Leto says West is “a friend and has always been,” noting, “Kanye has always been the nicest person to me, kind and generous. I think he’s a talent, and I really appreciate his ability to speak his mind.” However, the actor can quite relate to West’s candor, acknowledging, “I’m very different. I’m very careful and cautious because I don’t want to deal with the other things that come along with speaking out like that. But I do appreciate that in other people.”
As for Swift, Leto believes “she’s great.” “She triggers a conversation with myself about what’s possible. And you know, the thing I like about Taylor is she’s a self-made woman,” says the actor. He feels, “There were probably points in Taylor’s career where someone else maybe would have been knocked off balance by criticism or other challenges, and she just kept marching forward.” Leto’s issue of GQ Style hits newsstands on August 16.
