Calysta Bevier amazed the judges with “Brave” on Tuesday’s “America’s Got Talent.” Check out the video below!
As Gossip Cop reported, Bevier was Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer pick during the AGT auditions. He was blown away by her cover of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song.” And everyone was moved by the teen’s determination after battling cancer.
The 16-year-old survivor now gave her all for her first live performance in the NBC competition. It was also only the second time she had to go before the panel, since the Golden Buzzer advantage allowed her to skip the Judge Cuts round. Not surprisingly, the aspiring star nailed her rendition of Sara Bareilles’ “Brave.”
“I’ve never felt so nervous during one of these performances because I just wanted this to happen for you,” Simon Cowell admitted afterward. “You’re more than a great artist, Calysta. You’re a very special person. And you really, truly are an inspiration.” He went on, “You made me so proud, and I really hope America picks up the phone, because we have to see you in the semifinals, Calysta. It was a perfect song choice.”
Howie Mandel noted, “You should feel proud… You were so brave. You’re beautiful. As Simon said, you’re inspirational. It’s so much more — there’s a message here. There’s so much more beyond the singing. And this is the first flawless performance of this night tonight on this stage. And I know all of America needs to vote for you.”
“Finally, somebody comes on the stage and just owns it from start to end,” Mel B said, also calling the performance “completely flawless” and “brilliant.” Heidi Klum added, “I just loved how simple and angelic you were in your performance.” Watch the full video below!
