Bachelor In Paradise Premiere Recap

(ABC)

“Bachelor In Paradise” began off its third season on Tuesday with former “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” contestants looking at a second chance at love (or TV airtime) at the Playa Escondido resort in Sayulita, Mexico. The season premiere started with Chad getting really drunk and offensive and fighting with Lace. He then got kicked off the show. Get the full recap below.

Most of this year’s bachelors and bachelorettes came from JoJo Fletcher and Ben Higgins’ seasons, respectively, with a smattering from the seasons with Sean Lowe, Kaitlyn Bristowe, and Chris Soules. In order of arrival were mom of two Amanda Stanton (from Ben Higgins’ season), Nick Viall (from Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s seasons), war veteran Jubilee Sharpe (from Ben Higgins’ season), Evan Bass (from JoJo Fletcher’s season), Vinny Venter (from JoJo Fletcher’s season), Carly Waddell (from Chris Soules’ season), Grant Kemp (from JoJo Fletcher’s season), and Daniel Maguire (from JoJo Fletcher’s season).

Next, there was Sarah Herron (from Sean Lowe’s season), twins Emily and Haley Ferguson (from Ben Higgins’ season), Isabel “Izzy” Goodkind (from Ben Higgins’ season), Lace Morris (from Ben Higgins’ season), Jared Haibon (from Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season), and Chad Johnson (from JoJo Fletcher’s season).

Most people were hesitant to meet Chad, but Izzy, Lace and Sarah were excited to get to know him. But no one was happier to see him than Daniel. Carly even joked that they were the “first couple” to hit it off in Paradise.

After everyone met, Chris Harrison the told the bachelors and bachelorettes that the men will be handing out roses this week, and a couple of women will be sent home. Next, Jubilee got the first date card and chose Jared for the season’s first date. The two had dinner beneath colorful pinatas, before taking swings at them.

Also, it also didn’t take long for Vinny and Izzy to hook up. The two made out in the ocean. Vinny even noted how surprised he was to find a woman who he liked so quickly.

But the main story was Chad and Lace. The two first flirted in the pool. They then moved on to the jacuzzi, where they kissed and argued and kissed some more. Chad and Lace next hit the bar, where they drank and cursed each other out. After their expletive-filled fight, they had a mini-breakup. Lace said to the camera, “I’ve had it with him,” adding, “He’s mean.”

But incredibly, that wasn’t the end of Chad’s fighting. The drunk bachelor was chastised by Sarah for degrading all the women there. In return, he mocked her for having one arm. Daniel tried to calm him down, but Chad took some swings at him before stumbling off and then passing out on the ground.

The next morning we learn that in his drunken stupor Chad pooped in his shorts. While some felt bad for him and how drunk he got, most people had no sympathy for him. It all ended with Harrison calling all the contestants together and telling Chad that everyone came to have fun in Paradise, but he “managed to turn it into Hell.” And with that, Harrison kicked Chad off the show.

Chad couldn’t believe it, but all the other bachelors and bachelorettes recounted how nasty and drunk he was the night before. And Harrison told Chad that while drunk he was rude to the hotel’s staff. Finally, Chad understood it was all over, but before he left, he fought with Harrison and cursed him out, too.
