“Jason Bourne” Returns To Win Weekend Box Office

Jason Bourne is officially back with a vengeance! The film will easily defeat the competition to win the box office this weekend.

Matt Damon has returned to his iconic character for the first new movie in the Bourne franchise since 2007. This time around, he’s joined by Alicia Vikander, and audiences seem to approve. With a projected $60 million debut, Jason Bourne would be the second-highest Bourne opening and second-highest opening for Damon in general.

With the action flick in the number one spot this weekend, the new comedy Bad Moms will have to settle for second place with a debut of $26.5 million. And those openings are pushing last week’s chart-topper, Star Trek Beyond, down to third with about $22.9 million.

Box office receipts of $18.5 million would put The Secret Life Of Pets in fourth. $10.8 million in ticket sales could mean a fifth-place finish for the horror flick Lights Out. But Ice Age: Collision Course is right behind with $10.7 million, possibly landing in the number six spot.

Nabbing seventh may be Ghostbusters, if it brings in a $9.8 million haul. Probably rounding out the Top 10 are Nerve ($9.5 million), Finding Dory ($4.2 million), and The Legend Of Tarzan ($2.4 million). All figures are currently estimates. Gossip Cop will have updates.
