All six seasons of the comedy will be available on HBO Go and HBO Now beginning Sept. 23.
The Larry Sanders Show is (finally) returning to HBO.
Six months after the death of series star, creator and executive producer Garry Shandling, his critically acclaimed comedy will be available in its entirety on HBO Now, HBO Go and HBO on Demand beginning Friday, Sept. 23. The series will also come to HBO Comedy on Sept. 26.
Shandling passed away suddenly at the age of 66 in March, and questions soon arose about why the beloved series was not available to watch via HBO's many platforms. The series, which centered on a late-night talk show host, was one of HBO's first original series and ran for six seasons in the early to mid '90s.
At the time, HBO confirmed that a deal had been completed to bring the series back prior to his passing, but no formal date was announced until Saturday as part of the pay cabler's presentation at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
Previously, the only other platform that offered the series was iTunes and Amazon for $2 an episode. The Larry Sanders Show – The Complete Series, released in May 2015, went out of stock on Amazon shortly after Shandling's passing.
A three-time Emmy winner, The Larry Sanders Show also starred Rip Torn, Jeffrey Tambor, Linda Doucett, Janeane Garofalo, Penny Johnson, Wallace Langham, Bob Odenkirk, Jeremy Piven, Mary Lynn Rajskub and Scott Thompson.
