Rachel Platten and Lee Ann Womack teamed up for a duet of “Stand By You” and “I Hope You Dance” on Thursday’s episode of “Greatest Hits.” Watch the performance below!
Each episode of ABC’s summer music series, hosted by Kelsea Ballerini and Arsenio Hall, celebrates the biggest hits from the ’80s, ’90s and 2000s. The show features famous musicians paying tribute to the best songs from a particular five-year period. This Thursday night was focused on 2000-2005. Womack’s inspirational ballad, “Hope You Dance,” came out in 2000, 15 years before Platten released the also-inspiring “Stand By You.”
The new episode of “Greatest Hits” also featured Zendaya and Mario teaming for a duet of his song “Let Me Love You,” Fifth Harmony performing a medley of Destiny’s Child hits, Pat Monahan and Kenny Loggins singing “Calling All Angels” and “This Is It,” and Little Big Town taking on Alicia Keys’ “Fallin.'” Co-host Ballerini also covered top songs by Shania Twain, Britney Spears and Maroon 5.
As Gossip Cop reported, last week’s edition of “Greatest Hits” paid tribute to the early ’90s, with Little Big Town covering the classic Oasis hit “Wonderwall,”, Boyz II Men performing “Motownphilly,” Seal belting out his anthem “Kiss From A Rose,” Bonnie Raitt and Andra Day teaming up for a duet performance, in addition to other musical performers.
Next week, “Greatest Hits” will go live for its season finale. Check out full video of Platten and Womack’s “Greatest Hits” duet below!
