Katy Perry performed “Roar” and “Rise” at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday. Watch below!

Perry, of course, was at the event to support Hillary Clinton, who would be officially accepting the party’s nomination for president later in the evening. The singer has been one of the candidate’s biggest celebrity supporters since before her campaign even began. Prior to her performance, Perry told the audience at the DNC, “Both my parents are pastors and staunch Republicans. I didn’t finish high school. Unfortunately, I don’t have a formal education, but I do have an open mind and I have a voice.”

Perry continued, “I’m asking you to have an open mind, and to use your voice, because on November 8th, you’ll be just as powerful as any NRA lobbyist. You’ll have as much say as any billionaire, or you can cancel out your weird cousin’s vote.” The singer added, “Here’s how I’m going to use my voice: I’m going to vote for Hillary Clinton. I love Hillary.”

As Gossip Cop reported at the time, Perry and Clinton met up during a book tour in 2014, with the pop star writing on Instagram afterward, “I told @hillaryclinton that I would write her a ‘theme’ song if she needs it…” Then last year, Perry helped Clinton celebrate her birthday when they joined forces for an official campaign rally in Iowa. Both before and since then, the singer has regularly posted about the former First Lady on social media. And before she took the stage tonight, she shared her excitement with fans.

“I’m [singing] for @HillaryClinton at the @DemConvention tonight! Text KATY PERRY to 47246 to get a link to watch before I take the stage and…#RISE,” Perry tweeted. She also shared an Instagram photo of her feet on the convention floor, writing in the caption, “guess where I am.”

Perry was just one of a number of music stars to sing during the DNC this week. Demi Lovato gave a speech and performed at the convention on Monday, and Alicia Keys, Andra Day, and Lenny Kravitz have all provided live musical entertainment, too.
