Demi Lovato, James Corden on 'The Late Late Show' CBS
Corden re-created his door-to-door episode from his second week on air with guests Colin Farrell, Wanda Sykes and Demi Lovato.
James Corden is celebrating his one-year anniversary in his CBS studio by abandoning his studio entirely.
His one-year mark at The Late Late Show was spent Wednesday night by going door-to-door around the neighborhood. The goal was to find someone willing to let him host an entire episode in their house, re-creating an episode Corden made during his second week of hosting last April. Luckily for him, he found Natalie.
In his new studio for the night, affectionately dubbed “Natalie’s House," Corden, Reggie Watts and his crew set up shop, Watts starting off the episode by performing the show’s theme song in the living room on a stool. Corden even performed his entire monologue in the living room in front of the couch, quipping about March Madness, Donald Trump, even a few “women be shoppin’” jokes.
The homeowners, aka his episode’s "first guests," Natalie, Melody, Taylor and Adam, joined Corden on their couch with guests Colin Farrell, Wanda Sykes, Demi Lovato and Jack Hanna. Corden first spoke to the homeowners about Adam and Taylor's recent engagement, promising that if he can get ordained, he will marry the couple when they set a date.
Farrell joined the four of them on the couch with a basket of snacks to talk about filming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and past roommate situations. After Farrell told the group about his old cramped one-bedroom apartment with two roommates, Corden revealed that he once lived with Preacher's Dominic Cooper, and the two of them would often “wake up in a spoon” position in their bed.
Sykes joined as the next guest, bringing her hosts a pineapple as her gift and reminiscing about meeting Farrell years ago on a red carpet. When Lovato arrived, Corden initiated a game of hide and seek with the group. "It’s not as much fun winning,” Farrell said, after being found last. “It's the strangest thing, this game, because when you win you just feel unloved.”
Hanna brought a skunk into the house with him, worrying the four homeowners a bit, along with a bush baby, otter and an eagle, which especially terrified Corden. “This is like Jumanji,” said Farrell, “I don’t know what’s going to happen next!”
Lovato even performed “Stone Cold” from her album Confident in an intimate setting (Natalie's dining room) to round out the episode.
One year ago, The Late Late Show host did a similar in-home stunt during his second week as host, when he and Jeff Goldblum invaded "Tommy’s House." Goldblum even brought shirts with his face on them for his hosts.
Corden took over The Late Late Show on March 23, 2015 for host Craig Ferguson, who now stars on History's Join or Die and just signed on to NBC's Crunch Time.
