She'll reprise her role as Dr. Sara Tancredi and join Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell in the Fox event series.
It's official: Sarah Wayne Callies is returning to Fox's Prison Break revival.
The actress, currently starring on USA Network's Colony, will reprise her role as Dr. Sara Tancredi in the Fox event series. She joins returning stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, who will reprise their roles as Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows, respectively.
In the new series, which picks up after Michael's apparent death, Sara has moved on with her life, raising her and Michael’s child with her new husband (previously announced guest star Mark Feuerstein, Royal Pains). When clues surface suggesting that Michael may be alive, Sara teams with Lincoln to engineer the series' biggest escape ever.
Additional casting will be announced soon. Sources say much of the original cast is expected to return.
For Callies, the casting comes after the actress and Walking Dead alum told THR this week that the producers of Prison Break at 20th Century Fox were working with Colony's Universal Cable Productions to work out scheduling so she could return to the iconic series. "There's a lot of good will and a lot of hard work on both sides," she said.
Callies joins a cast that also includes franchise newcomers Augustus Prew, Rick Yune and Steve Mouzakis.
Original showrunner Paul T. Scheuring will pen the script and exec produce alongside Neal Moritz, Marty Adelstein and Dawn Olmstead.
Callies is repped by ICM Partners, More/Medavoy Management and Sloane Webber.
Prison Break will premiere during the 2016-17 broadcast season; a specific date has yet to be determined.
