Bobbi Kristina Brown's cause of death was revealed on Friday, March 4, and the late R&B scion died as a result of drowning and drug intoxication.

The autopsy results were revealed by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office on Friday after a judge issued an order the day before to unseal Brown's cause of death. "The cause of Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death as determined by the Fulton County Medical Examiner is: Lobar pneumonia," the statement from the examiner's office read. "Due to: Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, delayed effects. Due to: Immersion of face in water complicating mixed drug intoxication."

According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner, the drugs involved in Brown's system at the time included marijuana, alcohol, benzoylecgonine (a cocaine-related substance), benzodiazepines (medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety) and morphine. The office added: "It could not be determined from toxicology tests whether the morphine resulted from heroin use."

Brown was found facedown and unresponsive in a bathtub in her home in the suburbs of Atlanta in January 2015. She remained in a medically induced coma and eventually hospice care for six months until she passed away at age 22 on July 26, 2015. She was buried beside her late mother, Whitney Houston, and her autopsy results were sealed that September.

The results were released on the same date as what would have been Brown's 23rd birthday.
