HBO will also hold a panel for 'Silicon Valley' tied to the show's upcoming third season premiere.
HBO and Cinemax are heading to SXSW.
HBO will unveil Danny McBride's new comedy Vice Principals, while its sister network, Cinemax, will premiere the new Robert Kirkman drama Outcast at the annual festival, it was announced Tuesday.
Vice Principals, a dark comedy set at a high school, will screen Friday, March 11 at the Alamo Ritz Theater 1 at 8:45 p.m. followed by a Q&A with cast members Danny McBride, Walton Goggins and Kimberly Hébert Gregory, and executive producers Jody Hill and David Gordon Green. The series, which has already been picked up for a second season, does not yet have a premiere date.
The following day, Silicon Valley cast members Thomas Middleditch, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr and Zach Woods will be joined by exec producers MIke Judge and Alec Berg for a discussion previewing the comedy's upcoming third season, which debuts in April. The session will take place at 5 p.m. in Room 18ABCD at the Austin Convention Center.
Monday, March 14 brings the first look at the new drama from Walking Dead mastermind Robert Kirkman. Outcast, centered on a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all of his life, will bring together Kirkman, showrunner and executive producer Chris Black, cast member Patrick Fugit and pilot director Adam Wingard. The screening and Q&A is set for 1:15 p.m. at the Vimeo Theater and will be moderated by Silicon Valley star Nanjiani. Outcast is slated to formally premiere this summer on Cinemax.
TV premieres have begun to play a bigger role at the festival, which premiered newly minted Golden Globe drama series winner Mr. Robot. The USA Network hacker drama went onto win the episodic audience award at the festival.
