Courteney Cox John Salangsang/Invision/APThe 'Friends' alum will star and executive produce the half-hour entry currently titled 'Charity Case.'
Courteney Cox is officially returning to the small screen.
Fox has ordered the Friends and Cougar Town alum’s comedy Charity Case to pilot. From ABC Studios and 20th Century Fox Television, the half-hour single cam stars Cox as Hailey, a woman who quickly finds that changing the world is far less glamorous than she had imagined after she inherits her late billionaire husband's charity.
Cox will also serve as an executive producer on the project, alongside Robert Padnick (The Office) and James Griffiths. Padnick will pen the script and Griffiths will direct the pilot.
Cox and her former Friends castmembers have been in high demand this pilot season. Matt LeBlanc’s CBS family comedy received a pilot order earlier this week with a hefty series commitment penalty, while Lisa Kudrow continues to get her fair share of offers this pilot season. Should LeBlanc’s I’m Not Your Friend go to series, the actor could join fellow Friends vet Matthew Perry at CBS if the network renews his Odd Couple reboot for a third season.
The role marks Cox’s return to broadcast television following ABC-to-TBS comedy Cougar Town. She is repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
