Lady Gaga will honor the late, great David Bowie at this year's Grammy Awards.
On Tuesday, The Recording Academy announced that the Grammys will feature "an experiential tribute" performed by Gaga, a fan of the music legend.
The Recording Academy announced that the tribute to Bowie is set to be a "multi-sensory testament to the superstar's incredible artistry and a reflection of his limitless creativity."
Producer and artist Nile Rogers, who worked with Bowie on 1983's "Let's Dance," is the musical director of the tribute performance.
"We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year's show, but when David passed – almost in a single moment – we knew we had to change direction," Grammy Awards Executive Producer, Ken Ehrlich, said in a statement. "We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honor David. She’s perfect for it. So I reached out to Nile and, before long, we were on our way to creating what we believe will not only make a great Grammy moment, but one fitting of David."
Bowie passed away on January 10, after a secret battle with cancer.
The 58th annual Grammy Awards air Monday, Feb. 15 at 8/7c on CBS.
