FOX is airing “Grease: Live!” on Sunday, and a number of stars are tweeting their reactions in real time. See celebrity live tweets below.
As Gossip Cop reported, the adaptation of the Broadway musical and more popular 1978 film stars Julianne Hough as Sandy, Aaron Tveit as Danny, Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, Carlos PenaVega as Kenickie, and Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchy. Others in the star-studded production include Mario Lopez, Jessie J., Joe Jonas, Ana Gasteyer, Wendell Pierce, Eve Plumb, Boyz II Men, and Didi Conn, who starred in the movie.
Since these productions began a few years ago, it’s become a custom for stars to live-tweets the broadcasts. Andy Cohen kicked it all off, joking, “Is it wrong that I am most excited about Eve Plumb!??” Plumb plays Mrs. Murdock in the production. He later added, “#GreaseLive is making me SMILE.” Rosie O’Donnell also quickly jumped in to exclaim, “so fun!!!!” Lated she tweeted, “EVE PLUM IS A RIOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love it love it love it.” And Austin Butler tweeted, “You don’t want to miss #GreaseLive! So proud of @VanessaHudgens and everyone involved. It’s incredible!”
“Am I the only one just now realizing all the sexual innuendos in Grease?” asked Andi Dorfman. Meanwhile, Christine Teigen cracked, “So what happens between sandy meeting Danny and the car flying thing or is that the end.” And Beth Behrs bemoaned, “I CANT SING OUT LOUD WATCHING ON THE PLANE AND ITS KILLING ME.”
Joel Madden simply tweeted, “Grease is the word,” while Snooki exclaimed, “ SO EXCITED FOR GREASE.” Debra Messing wrote, “Nice harmony.” “BRAVO. Get to killin’ it @AaronTveit @juliannehough,” wrote Anna Kendrick, adding, “I feel like these two would have hot S&M thing going on.” And after the show Mario Lopez praised, “My girl @juliannehough absolutely killed it as Sandy. And as nice & sweet as she is talented. Love her.”
Miles Teller wrote, “Congrats to @juliannehough and the cast and crew of @GoGrease. Top notch production all the way around.” Chloe Grace Moretz was astounded by Hough’s dancing and exclaimed, “Omg Julianne’s high kick yes!!!” She noted about Hough’s co-star, “And @AaronTveit ahh so perfect !!!!! You’re killing it.” “This cast is CRUSHING IT!” offered Rebel Wilson. Cast member Carly Rae Jepsen tweeted, “.@GoGrease we did it! Feeling so proud of my #greaselive family!”
Neil Patrick Harris expressed, “Super proud of all involved in @GoGrease. Infectious fun, live on a high wire – dangerous yet walkable! Bravo @AaronTveit & @VanessaHudgens.” And also proud was Derek Hough, tweeted, “Singing live for all to hear!!!! Nailed it! #emotional #proudbigbrother.”
