Everyone has an opinion on the Oscars nominations controversy, and Michael Ian Black is no exception. The Wet Hot American Summer actor sat down with Us Weekly for a new video and we got his opinion on some hot button topics, including the headline-grabbing issue of the lack of diversity among this year's Academy Award nominations.
“I’m not as outraged by it as maybe I should be. That being said, it is ridiculous,” the host told us. “The issue is not with the Oscars— the issue is with the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, who is largely male and old and white. And so I think it [the controversy] has done a good job of raising that issue and I know they are trying to address it internally and hopefully they will.”
On Sarah Palin’s recent endorsement of presidential candidate Donald Trump, Black said, “Nothing makes me happier than Sarah Palin in general, and then Sarah Palin endorsing Donald Trump it's like a double dose of greatness for me,” he said. “I think people will be studying that speech for years to come.”
While Palin and Trump may be providing Black some amusement, he has an emotional connection to democratic hopeful Bernie Sanders.

“My heart is with Bernie because I’m a lefty through and through, I’m essentially a communist, but my head is Hillary just from a pragmatic point of view,” he said. "My crotch is with [George] Pataki."
