The multiplatform hit ranks as the cable network's most-watched original series in history.

To little surprise, Spike is keeping Lip Sync Battle around for years to come.

The Viacom-owned cable network has renewed the multiplatform hit for a third season consisting of 20 half-hour episodes, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The new season will tape later this year with a premiere date to be announced in the near future.

The series, based on a Tonight Show sketch and exec produced by John Krasinski and Stephen Merchant (among others), ranks as Spike's most-watched series in history.

Season two premiered Jan. 7 and, after its first two episodes, is averaging 4.4 million total viewers and an impressive 3.1 in the adults 18-49 demographic. On the digital front, its weekly clips continue to go viral on a regular basis. The series has amassed more than 500 million video streams since its launch last April, with more than 50 million alone for the season two premiere featuring Channing Tatum squaring off against his wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, with special appearances by Beyonce and Paula Abdul.

LL Cool J hosts, with Chrissy Teigen commentating. The series is distributed in more than 130 countries and territories worldwide.
