According to TorrentFreak, which compiles the annual list, this marks the fourth year in a row that the popular HBO fantasy series tops the chart.
As Gossip Cop reported this past April, the first four episodes of Season 5 leaked online just hours before the show’s season premiere. As a result, the show broke all-time piracy records when more than 258,131 users simultaneously uploaded the show to file-sharing sites. But despite all of the people illegally watching the show, “Game of Thrones” still holds the title of HBO’s most-watched series of all time.
The second most pirated show of the year was the AMC zombie series “The Walking Dead,” with 6.9 million illegal views. Coming in at number three was the CBS sitcom “The Big Bang Theory,” which was downloaded 4.4 million times.
