Tina Fey And Amy Poehler Sing Original Song “Merry Christmas Baby” During ‘SNL’ Monologue – WATCH VIDEO

Tina Fey Amy Poehler SNL Monologue

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler opened their “SNL” monologue by saying how they’ve been close friends for many years, and even finish each other’s sentences. They noted they’re like sisters. But the main part of their open was singing a song they wrote called “Merry Christmas Baby.” See the video below of Fey and Poehler’s “Saturday Night Live” monologue.

Fey and Poehler kicked off their co-hosting of “Saturday Night Live” by saying that they love nothing better than singing and making money off original Christmas songs. They then launched into a very un-politically correct song about Jesus called “Merry Christmas Baby.”

This is the first time the two former “Saturday Night Live” cast members have hosted the show together. It marks the fifth time Fey has hosted “SNL” after leaving the show. She previously fronted the sketch comedy show, of which she was the head writer, back in 2008 when Carrie Underwood was the musical guest and then again in 2010 with Justin Bieber. Fey returned the following year in 2011 with Ellie Gouding as the musical guest, and last hosted the show in 2013, backed by Arcade Fire.

It’s only the second time Poehler has hosted “SNL,” the show that made her famous. Poehler came back in 2010 to host with musical guest Katy Perry. Of course, Fey and Poehler we were the co-anchors of “Weekend Update” for years, and have hosted other specials together in past. They hilariously hosted the Golden Globes for three years in a row from 2013-2015.

While unsual, “SNL” has had more two people co-host the show, though usually they’ve been related. In 2004, Jessica Simpson and her then-husband Nick Lachey hosted together, and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen also co-hosted that same year. While not actual sisters like the Olsens, Fey and Poehler play siblings in the movie Sisters, which opened on Friday.
