Leonardo DiCaprio said at the L.A. premiere of The Revenant on Wednesday that the rumor about his character being raped by a bear is “absurd. See the video below.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, the Drudge Report published a story that was picked up by others, claiming DiCaprio’s character, Hugh Glass, is graphically raped by a bear on two occasions in the movie. The supposed scene, according to reports, showed the bear turning over Glass, as it “thrusts and thrusts during the explicit mauling.”

But DiCaprio’s Glass character is absolutely not sexually assaulted. Instead, the female attacks Glass because she believes her cubs are in danger. Fox previously issued a statement to correct the rumor.

Still, DiCaprio talked about the bogus story at the movie’s premiere, noting has “no idea where these ridiculous things come from, and what [do] you do when you hear stuff like that?” In any event, he called the bear rape report “absurd.”

DiCaprio stars in The Revenant as a frontiersman left for dead by his team after he’s brutally attacked (and not raped) by a bear. His character then seeks revenge against his compatriots who left him behind. The movie is slated to theaters on December 25.
