Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry are NOT “friends with benefits,” despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim, which comes from one of the tabloids. We’re told there’s no truth to the allegation.
According to this week’s Star, Cox and Perry “have grown a lot closer since the actress’ engagement to Snow Patrol guitarist Johnny McDaid ended.” A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “It’s no surprise that Matthew was one of the first people Courteney called after Johnny left her. They’ve leaned on each other before — during her infertility struggle and his battle with addiction.”
“But this time,” writes the magazine, “things took a different turn.” The outlet’s supposed “source” claims, “Matthew invited her over to talk one night and they ended up hooking up!” It’s implied that the hookups are now continuing, but the tabloid says Cox and Perry are “taking it slow,” with its alleged tipster explaining, “There isn’t any pressure to a label on it just yet, but they’re excited to see where this might go.”
And while Gossip Cop has no doubt Chandler and Monica fans would also be excited about an off-screen romance, right now it’s only tabloid fantasy. A source close to Cox exclusively tells Gossip Cop that the “friends with benefits” claim is “not true.”
