Donald Trump made a long-awaited appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Wednesday. Check out the full video below.
Trump was originally scheduled to be a guest on the late-night show in October, but canceled at the last minute. That led Kimmel to include a number of jokes mocking and berating the presidential candidate in the monologue of that night’s show. And the host had even more jokes this time around, quipping before Trump came out, “Of course, we know Donald Trump as a businessman and reality show star. But our children will know him as the President who blew up the moon for being a loser.”
When the two finally sat down together, Trump talked about the previous evening’s debate and how he enjoys them. The presidential candidate said he should have been paid for raising CNN’s ratings, and he would have given the money to the Wounded Warriors and other charities for veterans. After Kimmel noted that Trump was nicer during the debate, he simply explained he’s trying to bring the party together, acknowledging, “I’ve been a little bit divisive.”
Even though he and Jeb Bush sparred intensely, Trump expressed, “I think he’s a nice person.” He also said some of the other candidates should drop out because their numbers are too low.
When Kimmel pointed out that his sidekick Guillermo came into the U.S. illegally, and that we should want people who have risked everything to become Americans, Trump clarified that he’ll build a wall, but there will be a big door open because “we want people to come in legally.”
Kimmel next pressed Trump about saying he wants to temporarily ban Muslims from coming into the country, which is contrary to the U.S. tenet of freedom of religion. The GOP frontrunner stressed that he said “temporary” until we “get to the bottom” of who the terrorists are.
Trump also discussed the Middle East, the deficit, Tom Brady being a “winner,” and how his doctor said if he becomes president he’ll be “the healthiest individual ever elected.” The talk show host then showed Trump a children’s book he ghostwrote for the candidate called “Winners Aren’t Losers.”
Trump has also appeared on “The Tonight Show” and “The Late Show.” His time now on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” actually came one night after the show aired a Trump-themed edition of “Lie Witness News,” in which one person was actually tricked into thinking the mogul was in a Twitter feud with Hitler.
