FOX has just released a mini-documentary chronicling “American Idol,” less than a month before the series begins its 15th and final season. Watch below!

The 20-minute documentary features plenty of the people that fans grew to knew and love over the course of the show, including original judges Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, and Randy Jackson. Although the retrospective brushes aside some of the more infamous parts of the competition’s history, like the feud between former judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, it touches on all of the classic moments that made “American Idol” one of television’s greatest successes.

Cowell acknowledges that without season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson, “It wouldn’t have been the same show.” Indeed, Jackson says it was clear that “as soon as she opened her mouth, we were like, ‘Uh-oh. We got one.’” Meanwhile, current judge Jennifer Lopez talks about being “devastated” when Chris Daughtry was voted off the show in season 5, and further shares how she knew Phillip Phillips would win season 11 after sitting through his audition.

The final season of “American Idol” will premiere on January 6, with Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. returning as the judges. Ryan Seacrest, of course, will be back as host Watch the documentary below and tell Gossip Cop what you think.
