Margaret Cho is returning to TV.

The comedian-actress is set to star in comedy Highland, which is in development at Amazon, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Highland stars Cho as a version of herself, who, after a court-ordered rehab, gets a chance to start over but has to move in with her dysfunctional family who now runs a pot dispensary.

Liz Sarnoff (Deadwood, Lost, Alcatraz) will pen the script and executive produce the comedy, which is a co-production between Tomorrow Studios (a partnership between ITV Studios and Marty Adelstein) and Amazon Studios. In addition to starring, Cho will exec produce alongside Adelstein and Becky Clements.

Highland comes more than a decade after ABC's groundbreaking comedy All American Girl, which was based on the comedian's stand-up routine and starred Cho as a rebellious teen of a Korean-American family. The series, which lasted one season, was billed as the first to feature an Asian family.

For Cho's part, Highland marks her return to the small screen following scripted roles including Drop Dead Diva and guest gigs including 30 Rock and, more recently, ABC's Dr. Ken. She's repped by WME.

For Tomorrow Studios, meanwhile, the company is also adapting feature Snowpiercer for TV with Josh Friedman (a network is not yet attached). The company is also behind ABC's Last Man Standing, NBC's Aquarius and MTV's Teen Wolf.
Highland becomes the latest marijuana-themed comedy in the works. HBO picked up six episodes of High Maintenance and NBC is teaming with Adam and Naomi Scott to develop Buds.
Sarnoff is repped by WME and Ginsburg Daniels.
