Demi Lovato and Alanis Morissette performed “You Oughta Know” at Sunday’s 2015 American Music Awards. Check out the video below!
Originally it was announced that Lovato would take the AMAs stage at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles to perform “Confident,” her latest single from the album of the same name, which was released last month. But on Thursday, it was revealed Lovato would also team up with Morissette for a special performance. Morissette is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her seminal album, Jagged Little Pill, off which “You Oughta Know” was the memorable first single in 1995.
Though Morissette is a two-time AMAs winner, this marked her first-ever performance at the annual awards show. She took home trophies for Favorite Pop/Rock Female and Favorite Pop/Rock Album in 1997. Lovato, meanwhile, was not up for any awards at this year’s show, making it extra noteworthy that she was asked to perform.
Interestingly, this isn’t Morissette’s first older generation/new generation rendition of “You Oughta Know” in recent months. As Gossip Cop reported, the singer was a surprise guest on Taylor Swift’s “1989 World Tour” in August. Together they performed the iconic kiss-off track to a sold-out Staples Center.
