The latest entry in Dick Wolf's Windy City portfolio bests all broadcast scripted offerings in the key demo.
Chicago remains NBC's kind of town.
The third installment in Dick Wolf's growing empire of Windy City procedurals, Chicago Med, opened to a very solid 2.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 8.6 million viewers. That makes it Tuesday's highest-rated scripted series in the key demo, barely edging out NCIS on CBS.
It's great news for the network and the uber producer, who clearly have yet to reach the saturation point in the franchise — which also technically includes Law & Order: SVU. Chicago Med premiered after a steady outing of The Voice (2.6 adults) and before an episode of the original Chicago drama, Chicago Fire (1.9 adults).
On CBS, NCIS (2.1 adults) was off two-tenths of a point from the previous outing, while NCIS: New Orleans (1.6 adults) and Limitless (1.4 adults) were steady.
The rest of the broadcast dial saw little movement. The Muppets (1.2 adults), Fresh Off the Boat (1.4 adults) and Agents of SHIELD (1.3 adults) were all steady on ABC — as were Grandfathered (1.0 adults), The Grinder (0.9 adults) and Scream Queens (0.9 adults) on Fox.
The Flash, averaging a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49, lost two-tenths of a point from last week's same-day season high before a steady iZombie (0.5 adults).
