The ABC host came in No. 2 for the week of Nov. 2, sliding past the new 'Late Show' personality.
In what proved to be the third week of exceptional ratings for Jimmy Kimmel, ABC's late-night host eked his first ratings victory over Stephen Colbert since the latter's installation at CBS' Late Show.
Jimmy Kimmel Live topped Colbert in both total viewers and adults 18-49, by a margin of 5 percent, for the week of Nov. 2. An odd week, for sure, the victory excludes Tuesday's episode on account of election results coming in. But Kimmel still averaged a robust 2.6 million viewers and 765,000 adults 18-49 — right along the lines of his current season average.
In Kimmel's corner was a highly-watched visit from Hillary Clinton. The Nov. 5 episode popped for a six-month high 3.1 million viewers.
Colbert is still leading the long race, averaging north of 1 million viewers in the key demo of adults 18-49 this season. But the season is still young. And CBS is trying to boost Colbert at every opportunity. The network just handed the Late Show host (and 12:35 a.m. neighbor James Corden) the post-Super Bowl slot — a first for late night.
Perennial victor Jimmy Fallon is still pacing far ahead of this broadcast brethren. For the week, the Tonight host improved his margin of victory over Colbert to 50 percent.TV Ratings
