He has a name! Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald announced in a video posted to her family’s YouTube account on Wednesday, Nov. 11, that they’ve named their newborn son Spurgeon Elliot Seewald.
“His nickname has been Quincy since we first found out we were pregnant. We’ve been working on finding out a name, and we finally figured it out!” Duggar, 23, tells the camera before her husband explains the meaning behind their little one’s unique name.
“His name is Spurgeon Elliot Seewald…Why we named him that: Charles Spurgeon was a preacher who lived back in the 19th century and he had a big impact on our lives,” new dad Seewald, 19, explained. “Elliot, that was the last name of Jim Elliot and Elizabeth Elliot, and Jim Elliot was a missionary.”

The couple welcomed their first child via a home delivery on Nov. 5. According to reports, the TLC alum had to be rushed to the hospital however due to complications.
“Our sweet baby boy was born last night. He weighed 9 lbs and 11 ounces and is 21 1/4 inches long! He’s precious and both he and Jessa are doing great,” Seewald updated fans the following day, confirming all was well.
