Disney Channel is getting back to its roots.
The cable network has ordered a pilot from Lizzie McGuire creator Terri Minsky, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The untitled single-camera project centers on Andi Marcus (Scandal's Peyton Elizabeth Lee) as she gears up to celebrate her 13th birthday. Although Andi is eager for a little adventure in her life, her strict mother has other ideas because she's desperate to prevent Andi from turning into her older sister, Bex. Bex dropped out of school, left home and now, in her late 20s, has no idea what she wants out of life. When Bex returns home and promises to get her life together, Andi's life is also thrown for a loop and leaves her questioning everything she's ever known.
The pilot is set to begin production early next year.

This marks Minsky's return to Disney Channel after Lizzie McGuire, which earned her a WGA Award nomination and made a household name out of a young Hilary Duff. Lizzie McGuire ran for 65 episodes before jumping to the big screen for a 2003 movie which grossed $55 million worldwide at the box office.
Minsky, whose other credits include Finding Carter, The Carrie Diaries and Less Than Perfect, is repped by WME. Lee, who will next appear on Shameless, is repped by Avalon Artists Group, Entertainment Lab and Stone Meyer.
If picked up to series, the project would be a natural fit with Disney Channel's female-focused slate of original series, which includes Girl Meets World, Bunk'd, Liv and Maddie, K.C. Undercover and Best Friends Whenever.
