Steven Tyler announced his new charity organization, Janie’s Fund, on Monday. The group aims to support young girls who have either been sexually abused or neglected. Watch Tyler explain the initiative in the video below.

Janie’s Fund is dedicated to raising both awareness and financial support for underage girls who have experienced some sort of sexual trauma in their lives. The hope is that through this aid the victims will be in a better position to overcome their mental anguish.

The organization is named after the Aerosmith song “Janie’s Got a Gun,” which deals with the subject of child abuse. The lyrics tell the story of a girl named Janie who gets revenge on her sexually abusive father.

The nonprofit, Youth Villages, partnered with Tyler on Janie’s Fund. The company’s website indicates that more than 68,000 children in the United States are raped or sexually abused each year. Additional statistics show that one in five girls under the age of 18 have been victimized.
