Justin Bieber On Selena Gomez: ‘I Don’t Know If I’m Over It Yet’ (Exclusive)

Love is a popular theme on Justin Bieber's new album, "Purpose."

But how much of the new release is actually inspired by Justin's most notable ex – Selena Gomez?

"A lot of it, dude," Justin – who is Access Hollywood's Artist of the Month for November – told Access' Billy Bush. "A lot of it."

So exactly how many of the album's 13 tracks are about Selena?

"Probably like three," Justin admitted, calling the starlet his "first real love."

Justin Bieber's 'Renewed Perspective'

Justin and Selena famously dated from roughly 2010 – 2013, and Justin told Billy he still may not be totally over his former flame.

"It was really tough. I don't know if I'm over it yet," he added. "I think that I'm definitely in another place and I think we've definitely went our separate ways. I love her and I want her to be awesome, but there are things that remind me of her."

Does the singer think the two may have met too early in life?

"Yeah, I wrote a song [that] didn't make the album, it was called 'If I Would Have Met You In 5 Years,'" Justin revealed. "How true is that? How many people go through life and end up meeting someone and it feels so right, but it's just the wrong time? So many people can relate to that."

Though they've gone their separate ways, Justin noted it doesn't mean they've stopped communicating with each other.

"[She] is someone I love dearly. I'm never going to stop loving her. I'm never going to stop checking in on her. I don’t think if you end a relationship, you should end that, unless it was super toxic and you guys were hurting each other physically or mentally," Justin explained. "We always respected each other and we still respect each other."

So is there any chance the two could ever give love another chance?

"I don’t know what happens. I don't know what is going to happen in the future," the singer concluded. "I think we both gotta do some soul searching ourselves and figure out ourselves before we can just try to figure out each other."
