Justin Bieber is off formal probation in his infamous egg throwing case.
As Gossip Cop reported, the superstar pelted a neighbor’s home with eggs in January 2014. In July, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of vandalism as part of a plea deal. Among the terms of Bieber’s sentence was two years of probation, along with anger management, community service, and restitution.
That November, it was reported he had paid the court-ordered amount of $80,000, and had completed four of the 12 anger management sessions. Now nearly a year later, Bieber has finished the remaining sessions, and fulfilled his five-day community service requirement. With the star currently overseas promoting his new album, lawyer Shawn Holley appeared in court on his behalf on Monday to address his progress.
After a positive report from his probation officer, the judge agreed to let Bieber off formal probation. He will now remain on informal probation for the rest of his term, which should end sometime in 2016. The good news comes right in the mist of Bieber’s career comeback, which will see his first album in three years get released later this month.
He has repeatedly expressed interest in distancing himself from his past behavior, though he raised eyebrows last week with some incidents on his press tour. Earlier Monday, the star released the music video for his new song, “I’ll Show You.” He has not yet commented on the positive legal development.
